St. Ferdinand brings the Virgin of the Waters to Seville

17th century
Detail of the Conjunto of the Virgin of the Waters
Divine Savior Collegiate Church, Seville, Spain

Upon the reconquest of Seville, Ferdinand gave the city a statue of the Virgin Mary, whom he credited with obtaining his victory over the Moors. The statue became known as the Virgin of the Waters, and people prayed before it for relief from periods of drought.

Different sources provide different dates for the conjunto. It may be from the 18th century rather than the 17th.

This is the complete conjunto. The statue donated by Ferdinand is in the center.
